Dining Chairs 

There's no reason why dining chairs, the most utilitarian of furniture, must be just utilitarian. With proper design and choice of materials, they can be the height of the Arts & Crafts ideal, something that's useful and beautiful. This client specified solid quarter sawn white oak which was ammonia fumed and stained for a rich dark finish.

And they can be comfortable as well. Many dining chairs are responsible for the dreaded "Dead End" feeling that comes from sitting too long in an uncomfortable chair on an uncomfortable seat. We padded the seat with two inch medium density foam, which allows lingering over coffee and brandy without worrying about having to wake up your hinder parts when you stand.

Form-fitting bent-wood back slats help, too.
