San Jose Dining Suite |
![]() By today's standards, homes built during the heyday of the Arts & Crafts era are quite small. The San Jose bungalow this dining suite was commissioned for has less than a thousand square feet. The dining area, in fact, was only ten feet wide. The clients had a banquette built against the wall for maximum efficiency, so they asked Desert Craftsmen to create a Mission-style table that would ordinarily fit easily in the space but extend to seat eight. |
![]() The piece we designed is 5 feet long for daily use, but will extend to 7 feet for family gatherings. The chairs for the side opposite the banquette needed to be very compact, fitting neatly against the table when not in use. We designed three Prairie-style chairs that share design elements with the mission table and slide neatly out of the way when not in use. |
![]() The suite is completed by two Mission stools for use at the adjacent breakfast bar. |
